august: bittersweet
August has a bittersweet feeling to it.
The pulse of summer is still undeniably present, yet you can almost sense the quieter rhythm of the months ahead beginning to emerge. Historically, August is our slowest month at the studio, a natural exhale before we welcome the fullness of fall.
One of my teachers once said, “we teach what we most need to learn.” That phrase has stayed with me.
While we’re busy looking ahead, planning our fall schedule, workshops, and all the beautiful transitions a new season brings—I’m also making an effort to embrace the present pace. So, in the spirit of practicing what I preach, my invitation to you is the same one I’m offering myself: slow down. Savour the long evenings, the swims, the conversations on patios, the beach days, and the moments that ask nothing of you except to be present.
Behind the scenes, we’re putting the finishing touches on our fall schedule, with a few new classes and offerings that I can’t wait to share. Until then, we’re soaking up every last bit of summer alongside you.
As we continue settling into Mariana Tek, we’ve noticed that the platform doesn’t prompt feedback as frequently as our previous system did. That doesn’t mean we want to hear from you any less. Whether you have thoughts on the schedule, our facilities, your experience in class, or simply something you’d like to share, our inbox is always open. Some of our best ideas have come directly from this community.
As always, thank you for your presence, your trust, and for making this community what it is. I look forward to practicing alongside you this month.
With love,
Sheena
